eCalypso is an inspiring platform that claims the right for everyone to take a break. It aims at simulating the departure on holidays and to open up new horizons for younger and older travellers, disabled people and low-income families.
Meeting place for the European social tourism stakeholders and market place for supply and demand, eCalypso is back online from the 10th of June, proposing a commercialization module and different typologies of membership, each one offering a wide range of benefits: the possibility to access EU projects through partnerships and joint cooperation, discounts on all activities and events organized by eCalypso associations, commercial support, help and advice in building market-based products, and many others.
The platform is conceived to provide services to those tourism organisations and accommodation providers engaged in social tourism and willing to look for low season solutions, to find specific market niches, to maintain a socially oriented offer, to seek project partnerships for travel related synergies and experiences. It also offers references on social tourism in Europe, including publications, best practices, news, and background information on the Calypso initiative.
eCalypso has been created thanks to the Social Tourism European Exchanges Platform (STEEP) project, launched in 2012 in order to facilitate transnational tourism in Europe and carried out by a consortium of seven European Organisations active in social tourism, led by the International Social Tourism Organisation (ISTO). The consortium was made by Segittur (Spain), Legacoop (Italy), European Network for Accessible Tourism, Union Nationale des Associations de Tourisme (France), Consorzio Siena Hotel Promotion (Italy), Joie & Vacances Asbl (Belgium).
