Join ATD (Acteurs du Tourisme Durable) and EARTH in Paris on the 10th and 11th September for Sustainable Tourism Summer School!
Sustainable tourism : Which possibilities to scale up ?
Despite a general raise of awareness, sustainable tourism as it exists now is often described as the opposite of mass tourism. How can the tourism professionals, hosts, travel agencies, service providers and public authorities reverse this tendency ? State of play of the sector and focus on what is new !
Who is the “sustainable tourist” : consumer or activist ? Is sustainable tourism profitable ? Who can finance it ? Blogs, social networks, media, which communication should we choose ?
With these questions in mind, the association “Acteurs du Tourisme Durable – ATD” (“Sustainable tourism stakeholders”) is organising in Paris on 10th – 11th September the first edition of the Sustainable Tourism Summer School. The first day will be dedicated to roundtables, and the second will be an experimental day “To discover initiatives of sustainable tourism in the Ile de France region”.
EARTH will intervene on the opportunities of funding at European level to finance sustainable tourism projects on the 10th of September in afternoon session.
These days will be the occasion to exchange and network in a friendly atmosphere. Over 150 tourism professionals (hosts, travel agencies, associations, associations, service providers, consultants, destinations, tourist offices, etc) should participate !
The summer school is open to tourism professionals (from public, private and NGO sectors) that are committed or just curious about sustainable development issues, to institutions, national and international partners, media and project developers. A discount is offered to the ATD network members.
What are the objectives ?
- Raise awareness among all the stakeholders about sustainable tourism issues ;
- Identify, test and promote environmentally friendly and responsible initiatives ;
- Federate and encourage exchanges and partnership building ;
- Monitor and develop a shared forward thinking.
