Between the 1st and the 3rd of September, Diesis Coop (partner of the project) and EARTH (associated partner) held in Brussels the 3-day final event of the European funded project “TransCSR”! This event aimed to present the results of the project and to create the opportunity to reflect on CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) in the tourism sector, especially linked with the trainings, the qualification and competences of the professionals in Europe.
What did TransCSR create?
The project created a platform called the “CSR Pass”, to allow professionals in the fields of tourism and CSR to evaluate and assess their knowledge, skills and competences and to become more transparent and structured for themselves and for their employers. At the end, they can get their personalized “PDF European Skills Passport” that establishes a statement about their knowledge and competences regarding sustainable tourism and CSR.

Two days of meeting to finalize the project and be ready to present its results to the tourism and CSR professionals
The 8 partners of this 24 months project gathered to discuss about the development of the project, from its beginning in October 2013. The participants gave their inputs and impressions about their tasks and the self-assessment platform developed, in order to finalize the presentation of the tool and to be ready for the public event on the 3rd of September.
TransCSR: “Transparency of CSR skills in European tourism”
On the morning of 3rd of September, the European Conference “Transparency of CSR skills in European tourism” gathered European stakeholders in order to get their different point of views. Mr Pedro Ortun, director of the Task Force Services and Self-Regulation of the European Commission (DG Grow), representing the European Commission, presented the situation of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in the tourism sector in Europe and the European Commission Strategy on CSR.
The partners then presented their researches and findings led in 6 EU countries regarding the CSR in the tourism sectors, which highlighted the lack of training in Europe in this particular field, which demonstrate an existing need in the sector. They also presented the the self-assessing tool “CSR Pass” and its advantages to the public. A presentation of expert of CSR at European level on Training and CSR completed the first statement realized by the partners on CSR and tourism trainings.
Two simultaneous workshops were then organised in order to brainstorm with the participants and the speakers on “Responsible and sustainable tourism, a living concept at the disposal of SMEs and professionals” (workshop moderated by Francesco Marmo, coordinator of the Italian Association for Responsible Tourism) and on “Good practices of CSR qualification in sustainable tourism” (workshop animated by Martin Balas, from the German project leader Kate).
