The European Alliance for Responsible Tourism and Hospitality (EARTH) and the Phoenicians’ route decided to unite their strengths to promote responsible tourism in Europe in June 2012.
In Tuoro sul Trasimeno, a little locality in Umbria (Italy) and the Council of Europe Cultural Route organised an international meeting for its members inviting EARTH as its special guest. Both organisations partecipated in different common events.
The Phoenicians’ Route network is constituted by national and international organisations present in 7 European countries, supporting the “Phoenicians’ Route” which is in fact in 15 countries. It has been recognised by the Council of Europe as one of the 24 official international Cultural Routes. It includes the whole Mediterranean area and all the countries overlooking it. Furthermore, it is considered as the Route of the Intercultural Dialogue.
The two European networks are working together to increase the cultural value of the Phoenicians’ heritage of the Mediterranean according to the principles of Responsible Tourism. A great alliance which will inspire a lot of beautiful projects!
